The Great Urban Race Returns To Las Vegas

The Great Urban Race Championship will be returning to Las Vegas for the third year on November 10, 2012.

The Great Urban Race is an urban adventure race annually hosted by Red Frog Events where teams of two to four solve clues and complete mental and physical challenges while they navigate their way through a city. Joe Reynolds, the founder of Red Frog Events, said he wanted to give the masses the opportunity to experience a unique competitive adventure rather similar to that in the TV show ‘The Amazing Race’.

The inaugural Great Urban Race took place in Chicago in 2007, spurring seven other events. In less than four months Great Urban Race went from a single race to a national event. In 2008, the Great Urban Race hit 20 cities and saw the launch of a National Championship that was hosted in Las Vegas. In 2009, the National Championship was held at New Orleans. In 2010, The Great Urban Race became an international event, with Toronto, Ontario, Canada, hosting the National Championship. In 2011, the race increased its international events, adding Sydney, Australia and London, England to the list of locations.  Last year’s championship race was held in New Orleans.

The Championship Race consists of two parts: a preliminary race from 9am-1pm and the Elite Eight race which is from 2pm-5pm. The top eight teams compete in the Elite Eight race which consists of intricate clues throughout the designated city. The top team from the Elite Eight race wins a prize of $10,000.

This year’s race headquarters is at Flamingo Las Vegas Casino and Hotel, 3555 South Las Vegas Boulevard.
